Why Should I Submit the FAFSA?

It’s that time of year again, FAFSA-time!  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid can now be submitted at the http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ website.

 

Why should EVERY student submit the FAFSA, regardless of income level?

 

  •  It is the FIRST step in obtaining Federal financial aid AND individual state aid
  • Your SAR (Student Aid Report) is used by most colleges to determine what aid they will award each student
  • To qualify for low interest Federal loans
  • To show scholarship organizations that you are doing all you can to get help paying for college (Many scholarship applications ask if you have filed your FAFSA)

Although the FAFSA is not very complicated to fill out, there are TONS of resources out there for those that feel they need extra help.  One such site for FAFSA help is http://collegefinancialaidadvisors.com/.   Take advice from Nike, JUST DO IT.  College costs are increasing each year and doing all you can to get financial help is just SMART.
